Scott Atwood is a member of the Florida and Georgia Bars, and focuses his practice on complex employment and business disputes. He also is a Florida Supreme Court certified mediator. On multiple occasions, he has been recognized by the publishers of Atlanta Magazine as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in labor and employment law. This prestigious honor went to less than 20 labor and employment attorneys in Georgia. He currently serves on the Executive Council of the Florida Bar's Labor and Employment Section.
Scott holds a B.A., with honors, from Dartmouth College, as well as an M.A. from the College of William & Mary. He graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 1995. While at Florida, he was elected Editor-in-Chief of the Florida Journal of International Law and was awarded the President's Award for outstanding service to the University. Scott now serves on the College of Law's Alumni Council.
Scott has been extremely active in helping formulate and implement legal policy on both the state and local levels. He has served on the Florida Bar's Board of Governors, including its Executive Council. He was President of both the Florida Bar's 22,000-member Young Lawyers Division, and its 11,000-member Out-of-State Division. He also served as Vice Chair of the Florida Bar' Continuing Legal Education Committee. Scott served as President of the Lee County (FL) Bar Association in 2016. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Lee County Bar Foundation, which was created during Scott's term as Bar President, and on the 20th Judicial Circuit Professionalism Committee. He also is a past Chair of the Small Firm Section of the Atlanta Bar Association. Scott serves his community as a member of the Board of Directors for the Sidney & Berne Davis Arts Center in Fort Myers. He previously served on the allocations committee for Lee County United Way.
